A crown is a tooth-shaped 'cap' which is placed over a tooth and completely covers it.

They're usually made from resins or porcelain and require an impression of your tooth to be taken before they're made in a lab and then placed.  Thus they require two visits to complete, but they offer a strong and lasting restoration.
